St Patrick’s De La Salle Choir
For many years, St Patrick’s De La Salle has earned a reputation for having a fantastic school choir. The choir is open to students from 4th – 6th class and is directed by Ms Walpole and Ms O Beirne. It provides pupils with the opportunity to develop their singing, musical and performance skills while enjoying the experience of making music together.
The choir is very active throughout the school year and performs at a variety of school events and celebrations, including the school Sacraments such as First Penance, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
Christmas is a particularly busy time for the choir, with pupils taking part in a variety of Christmas performances and events, including the school’s annual Christmas celebrations, Yulefest and carol singing in the local community.
Over the years, the choir has performed at a variety of local venues, including St Canice’s Cathedral, The Watergate and Langton’s Set Theatre, as well as Christmas performances in the local library and Alzheimer’s care centre. The choir has also taken part in events such as the Cross Border Peace Proms and the Hallelujah Concert in Dublin.
Through regular rehearsals and performances, students develop their vocal skills, confidence, musical awareness and ability to work together as an ensemble, while enjoying the opportunity to represent St Patrick’s De La Salle through music.
